Odds and ends: Millionaire keeps money from winning lottery prize

By The Associated Press

MILWAUKEE – U.S. Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner, already a millionaire, is on a lucky streak.

The Republican hit it big in 1997 with a $250,000 jackpot in the District of Columbia lottery. Then, last spring, he won a $1,000 prize in the Wisconsin lottery, and he won another $1,000 in that lottery last week.

The latest winnings came in a Super 2nd Chance drawing, in which people who mail in at least $5 in losing tickets vie for 10 $1,000 prizes each week. Lottery officials put the odds of winning just one time at 1 in 5,000.

“Man, they were just trying to get ratings, and they knew she wasn’t ready and they exploited her,” the 29-year-old rapper said Tuesday on Sirius Satellite Radio’s “The Morning Mash Up.”

The network made a “bad move” by having the troubled pop star open Sunday’s event in Las Vegas, said West, who feels he should have kicked off the show with “Stronger,” the first single from his new album, “Graduation.”

Spears, 25, looked unprepared while performing her new song, “Gimme More” to a bewildered audience of her music industry peers.
