Pedestrian hit by car, sent to hospital

A pedestrian was struck early Saturday morning by a slow moving vehicle at the corners of Illinois and Gregory streets.

Officers on the scene say that the victim, whose name has not yet been released, was crossing Illinois street to catch a bus when he was struck by a car.

According to Sergeant Joan Fiesta of the University of Illinois Police Department, the victim was conscious as he was transported to a local hospital via ambulance. No details were released on the victim’s condition.
