CHICAGO – Five environmentalists are facing charges after protesting the expansion of agricultural businesses in the world’s rain forests by putting a 50-foot banner on the Chicago Board of Trade.

Four activists from the Rainforest Action Network climbed to the 23rd floor of the 45-story art deco building before unfurling the sign.

Chicago Police Officer Marcel Bright says a fifth person coordinated the protest on the street. Bright says all five are charged with criminal trespassing, reckless conduct and criminal damage to property.

The fire department used ladder trucks to get the protesters down and remove the banner.
