The Illini got back in the win column Saturday afternoon against the Ball State Cardinals.

Illinois led 7-3 at the half, but used strong second half performances by quarterback Juice Williams and running back Rashard Mendenhall to win 27-18.

Three Illini players reached personal milestones in the game. Williams went over 1,000 rushing yards in his career, Mendenhall’s 189 yards gave him over 1,000 yards for the season and Arrelious Benn set a new Illinois freshman receiving record for most yards in a season.

The win makes the Illini bowl eligible with three Big Ten games remaining. The Orange and Blue travel to Minnesota next weekend and then finish the season with a road game against Ohio State and a home game against Northwestern.
