“She was approached by a stranger who grabbed her by the shoulders,” Christensen said. “She was forced into some bushes, she was struck in the face and she fought off the victim, kicking him in the crotch numerous times, causing him to flee.”

The suspect in the first attempted assault is described as a hispanic male, 5’6″ and had a thin built. He appeared to be 19 to 20 years old.

A second attempted sexual assault also took place early Wednesday morning on east Daniel street. The assailant approached a woman and struck her over the head, but once again the victim was able to defend herself.

The suspect in that second attack is described as a black male, average build, 5’4″.

Right now, police said there seems to be no connection between the two incidents.

“The M.O.s are somewhat alike, but the suspect descriptions are different so I don’t think we want to conclude right now that this is the same person,” Christensen said.

Christensen advises those on campus to be alert and be aware of their surroundings.

“We want to emphasize the safety practices, things like trying not to walk alone, walking in well-populated areas, avoiding unpopulated, despolate areas,” Christensen said.
