Last 3,000 Rose Bowl tickets sold Tuesday morning

By The Associated Press

It didn’t take long for the University of Illinois to sell the last of its Rose Bowl tickets – just half an hour.

The university put the last 3,000 of its tickets on sale at 9 a.m. Tuesday morning. All were sold by 9:30.

Tuesday was the first chance the general public had to buy tickets from the university.

The other 23,000 tickets were sold to season-ticket holders and people who donate money to the school.

Illinois finished a surprise 9-and-3 and will face USC in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day. The game will be the Illini’s first trip to the Rose Bowl since 1984.
