Explosion hits building in Waukegan

WAUKEGAN, Ill. – An explosion has hit a shopping plaza in the Chicago suburb of Waukegan.

Firefighters from several departments responded to the scene. The building that housed a tuxedo rental store, a hair salon, a cell phone business and a travel agency was gutted and the roof has collapsed.

Authorities say there are injuries, but there’s no word yet on how many.

The explosion happened in Waukegan, which is about 40 miles north of Chicago.
