High School Heads to State Championship
The Central High School basketball team will be competing in the state championships in Peoria at 1:45 p.m. on March 14.
Central High Students and faculty with game tickets will be released at 11 a.m. March 14. All other Central High students and faculty will be released at 1:40 p.m. to meet state requirements. All other schools in Champaign District 4 will hold a regular school day.
Foundation Seeking Volunteers
The Central Illinois chapter of the Make-A-Wish Foundation will be holding an information and orientation session for new and prospective volunteers on April 15 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the the Lauhoff Conference Room in the Carle Forum, 611 W. Park St., Urbana.

Carle Hospital announces plans for new facility
Carle Foundation Hospital announced plans March 12 to build a two-story facility on the corner of Park and Busy Streets. The facility will house Carle Foundation’s programs dedicated to helping children with hearing loss.
The project will cost $6.25 million. According to Robert Driver, vice president of The Carle Development Foundation, half of the total project cost will be funded by donations. The foundation has already raised $1.3 million.
