Following Tuesday night’s thunderstorms, the Vine Street viaduct is closed due to high water levels at the Boneyard and Saline creeks, Urbana Public Works Operations Manager Brian Kelly said.

Vine Street is closed from Water Street to University Avenue. Kelly added that some basements have flooded, however, no apartment buildings have reported any problems resulting from the storms.

“Personally we go (around Urbana) and offer services of how to prevent (flooding) in the future,” Kelly said of the measures being taken.
