Police still searching for suspect in Champaign shooting

No suspect has been identified in a shooting at the 1200 block of Joanne Lane in Champaign Thursday night.

According to a news release, Champaign police were dispatched to the area for a report of a shooting at 9:38 p.m. The officers located a 27-year-old man who had been wounded in the leg and he was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

The suspect had fled the scene before police arrived and was not located during a search Thursday. The suspect was described as a 6’2″ black man, weighing about 180 lbs.

Police are continuing to investigate, but no further developments had been made as of Monday afternoon, said Rene Dunn, spokesperson for the department.
