Odds ‘n’ ends: New York psychiatric center worker lived in a paint shed

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – A New York state report says a maintenance man who earned $100,000 last year working at a psychiatric center has been living for free in a paint shed and even had his mail delivered there.
A report issued Monday by the inspector general’s office says the worker lived on the grounds of the Rockland Psychiatric Center in New York City’s northern suburbs for three years. He stayed in a back room and had a couch, microwave and refrigerator.

Jeff Harlow, the senior pastor at Crossroads Community Church, broke his wrist when he lost control of the motorcycle at the start of Sunday’s service, driving off a 5-foot platform and into the the seats. He underwent surgery Monday. No one else was hurt.

“Jeff has already laughed a lot, so he’s OK. I think his pride was bruised,” said his wife, Becky.
