Dog shot Tuesday evening; shooter arrested

At 11:34 p.m. on Tuesday evening residents near the 300 block of W. Beardsley reported sounds of gunshots.

Rene Dunn, spokeswoman for the Champaign police said that nearby residents reported hearing loud screams of a female in addition to the gun shots.

Police arrested 22 year old Terrell Winters for aggravated discharge of a firearm and unlawful possession and use of a weapon by a felon.

Winters shot a neighbor’s dog. The dog survived the attack and Winters was treated for injuries sustained from the animal.
