Campus death investigated
October 14, 2008
Friends say Patrick Cassidy, 21, was full of life and a great person to be around.
The former University student and current Parkland College student died Friday night. The cause of his death is unknown at this time, but the Urbana Police Department is conducting an investigation.
Jason Agrimonti, senior in LAS and one of Cassidy’s roommates, said he met Cassidy about three years ago when the two were in the same pledge class of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity.
“He was full of energy,” Agrimonti said. “He was just that kind of person.”
Others who met Cassidy also noticed his energy and agreeable personality.

“Patrick Cassidy will be greatly missed by the brothers at Lambda Chi Alpha,” said Steve Parsons, chapter adviser of Lambda Chi Alpha and university housing employee. “Patrick was very full of life. He was a great brother who exemplified openness and friendliness and he was just a great guy to be around.”
Cassidy was not a member of the fraternity this year, so many of the younger members do not know him, said David Michael, senior in Business and president of Lambda Chi Alpha.
“All the guys that do know him, everyone is extremely sad,” Michael said. “We’re all taken aback.”
The University’s chapter was unable to comment further on the details of Cassidy’s death. His family was also unavailable for immediate comment.
Cassidy was born Nov. 20, 1986. According to his Facebook profile, he was a 2005 graduate of Glenbard South High School in Glen Ellyn, Ill.
A wake and funeral service for Cassidy will be held at Williams-Kampp Funeral Home in Wheaton, Ill. His wake will take place from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday and his funeral will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday.
Agrimonti said he and some of his friends will be attending the wake and funeral.
Michael said the fraternity will make a donation to the Make-A-Wish Foundation in Cassidy’s honor.
“The best way to describe Pat was that he was always smiling,” Michael said. “He was always having fun even when other people were down.”
