Odds and Ends: N.Y. King of Pop clones target dance record, beat it

NEW YORK – A New York City wax museum says scores of zombies and Michael Jackson impersonators eyed the Guinness World Record for the number of people dancing to the singer’s “Thriller” album and beat it.

Madame Tussauds New York says 73 fans surrounding its Jackson wax figure did the spooky “Thriller” dance at its Times Square location Thursday. It says the previous record was 62.

Thursday’s dance celebrated the iconic “Thriller” video’s 25th anniversary.

The King of Pop didn’t attend. But the 13-time Grammy winner says in a statement that he “always thought Halloween and ‘Thriller’ fit each other like a glove.”

Guinness World Records says it’s reviewing evidence from the “Thriller” dance and confirmation of the record could take two weeks.

Texas man arrested for not paying bill at Atlanta buffet

ATLANTA – Being a cheapskate could get you in trouble.

Fulton County authorities arrested 40-year-old Dan Linscomb of Texas City, Texas, last week for refusing to pay his tab at the all-you-can-eat Iron Skillet buffet in northwest Atlanta. Officials say Linscomb ate at the buffet and let his girlfriend eat from his plate.

The restaurant charged him for two $7 meals, which he refused to pay. Linscomb was taken to the Fulton County Jail on a charge of theft of service.
