Tim Johnson, Republican candidate for the 15th Congressional District of Illinois, is expected to appear at 9:30 p.m. at Brookens Administrative Center, 1776 E. Washington St., Urbana, tonight to await the results of the election.

Phil Bloomer, spokesman for Johnson, said the campaign is feeling optimistic.

“But it’s still early,” Bloomer said. “There’s still a lot of votes out there.”

Johnson has represented the Illinois district since 2000 in the U.S. House. Much of East Central Illinois is included in the district and includes at least a part of 23 counties.
