At Monday’s Urbana-Champaign Senate meeting, executive committee chair, Nick Burbules said Global Campus will most likely be discussed but will probably not be a key part of the meeting.

The Board of Trustees authorized Global Campus to seek independent accreditation on Nov. 13, despite discord in the senate, and there will probably be some discussion of that, but Burbules said he expects it to be minimal.

Burbules said one important item will give academic professionals, such as adjunct professors, more voting presence in the senate. He said it is not a controversial issue, but an important one.

He said another important item relates to Global Campus. This item requests that diplomas earned through Global Campus should state specifically that it was earned through that entity, and not on the Urbana campus.
