Woodfield Mall reopens after precautionary search
January 26, 2009
SCHAUMBURG – The general manager of Woodfield Mall in suburban Chicago says the shopping center reopened about five hours after police started a precautionary search.
Schaumburg Police Sgt. John Nebl said Monday afternoon that authorities responded to the mall after they received reports of two suspicious people entering the shopping center.
Nebl says there have been no reports of crimes at the mall and that the police search was strictly precautionary.
Nebl says the mall wasn’t evacuated and shoppers already inside were “allowed to go about their business.” He says police did restrict who entered to make the building easier to search.
Woodfield Mall general manager Marc Strich says police allowed more customers in just before 4 p.m.
