Gov. Quinn stresses importance of FOIA
February 25, 2009
Illinois Gov. Pat Quinn called on state agencies Wednesday to fully and quickly respond to Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests, according to a press release.
Quinn said he wants to encourage more transparent government by limiting the cases of FOIA exemptions and posting more information online.
In addition to signing the memorandum on transparency, the Governor also issued an executive order creating an Illinois Reform Commission, to be headed by former assistant U.S. Attorney Patrick Collins. According to the press release, the Commission will examine government rules and practices then make recommendations for changes.
