CITES experiencing network slowdown
March 13, 2009
Campus Information Technologies and Educational Services, commonly known as CITES, is reporting a slowdown of campus network services this afternoon.
“We don’t really know what’s causing it at the moment, but it is causing a considerable slowdown in network and internet services,” said Spencer Gross, a CITES representative.
The issue was first noted between 10 and 11 a.m., but became more severe shortly after 1 p.m., Gross said.
“UIUCnet is experiencing a Denial of Service attack. Access to off-campus resources are degraded. CITES Engineers are working to track down and mitigate the issue,” a status message on the CITES web site said.
CITES is currently unsure of what is causing the slowdown and when the issue would be resolved, Gross said.
