Robert Hauser has been named dean of the College of ACES, pending approval by the Board of Trustees at its Sept. 23 meeting in Urbana.
The position has been vacant since Robert Easter, former dean of ACES, was appointed as the interim chancellor and provost of the Urbana-Champaign campus after former Chancellor Richard Herman resigned last fall.
Linda Katehi, former provost, left the University in May 2009 to become the chancellor at the University of California-Davis.
In Easter’s absence, Hauser served as interim dean of ACES.
According to a press release, Hauser came to the University in 1982 as a faculty member in agricultural economics.

Hauser served as the head of the department of agriculture and consumer economics from January 1995 to August 2001, and from August 2004 to August 2009, according to the University’s website.
“This college has given me every opportunity in the world to succeed,” Hauser said in a press release. “I just hope that I can help do the same for the unbelievably talented faculty.”
Hauser graduated from the University of Iowa in 1976 with a bachelor’s degree in agricultural business, according to the University website. He obtained his Ph.D. from Iowa in 1982.
If approved by the board, Hauser’s appointment will become effective Sept. 27.
