Marcus Campbell, 19, was killed Sunday evening in an accident on Interstate-57, according to a press release from the Champaign County Coroner’s Office.
Campbell, a passenger of the vehicle and Chicago resident, was taken to Carle Hospital in Urbana and died Sunday evening as a result of his injuries.
Passengers Michael Willis, 19, Uriah Ware, 18, and Edward Jackson, 19, all residents of Chicago, sustained injuries from the crash and were taken to Sara Bush Hospital in Mattoon, Ill. 19-year-old Anthony Hickman was the driver.
The vehicle, a 2002 Chevrolet Trailblazer, was traveling southbound on Interstate-57 around 5:39 p.m. when the driver lost control and rolled into the median, ejecting two of the passengers, according to a press release from the Illinois State Police.

The specific cause of the crash is unknown, although a preliminary investigation done by Illinois State Police concluded that a defective tire may have led to the accident.
