Champaign man arrested on John Street for drug charges

A 25-year-old male was charged Friday with unlawful possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance containing MDMA and cocaine.

The University of Police Department arrested James F. Hall, 25, of Champaign, on the charge of possession of a controlled substance with an intent to deliver at 105 E. John St. at around 11 p.m. Thursday.

University Police Detective Sgt. Joseph McCullough said Judge John Kennedy issued a warrant for Hall’s arrest on Thursday. The warrant was then executed by University police.

During the search, University police found 25 bags of powder cocaine packaged for sale, 8.5 grams and 107 capsules of MDMA, commonly known as Molly, two ecstasy tablets and more than $5,190 in cash in Hall’s apartment.

Hall pleaded not guilty and his bond was set at $50,000. His pre-trial date is set for Dec. 10. University police said the investigation is ongoing.
