Bar checks result in 27 citations

The Illinois State Police, along with the Champaign Police Department, conducted an Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement covert detail on Dec. 11.

A total of 27 citations were issued by the ISP and the Champaign Police Department. Of the 27 citations, nine were issued at Red Lion, eight at Joe’s Brewery, seven at KAM’S and three at It’s Brothers.

The citations were issued for possession/purchase of alcohol by a minor, unlawful use of ID and presence of minor in liquor establishment.

The goal of the ACE program is to reduce and prevent underage drinking in Illinois.
