Champaign Police investigate bomb threat

The Champaign Police Department is investigating a reported bomb threat at the Hilton Garden Inn, 1501 S. Neil St., according to a press release from CPD.

Police responded to the threat at around 1:00 p.m. Thursday.

An unknown male called the hotel to report that a bomb was placed inside the building. The man also demanded money from hotel employees during the phone call, according to the press release.

CPD used a bomb-sniffing dog to search the building and surrounding area for explosive materials and devices. Nothing was found during the search and no injuries were reported during the incident. All hotel operations have resumed.
