University Police investigating armed robbery outside Transportation Building

An armed robbery was reported in the 100 block of South Mathews Avenue on Saturday around 1 p.m.
According to a crime alert issued by the department of public safety, the male victim was walking on the south side of the Transportation Building, 104 S. Mathews Ave., when he was approached by the offender. The offender asked to use the victim’s cellphone and then showed him the handle of a gun, which was located inside the front pocket of his red hoodie. The offender then demanded the victim’s money. The victim gave the offender his cash, and the offender fled north on Goodwin Avenue.
The offender is described as a white male with an unknown hair color, approximately 6’1″ with a thin to average build and stubble on his face. He is between 30 and 40 years old and spoke with an accent. He was last seen wearing a red hoodie, which is pulled over his head, and blue jeans.
