Green Street to gain new coffee shop next year

Daily Illini Staff Report

Green Street will welcome another coffee shop next year. Caffé Bene, a high-end European-style coffeehouse, will occupy the first floor of the new development replacing Lot J, 524 E. Green St.

The South Korea-based franchise, which has 1,300 stores globally, already opened a location in Gregory Place, Urbana, last month. The owner wanted to open a second location, said Jill Guth, director for leasing and marketing for JSM Commercial.

The new location will have similar decor to its counterpart, replicating a library setting.

The coffee shop will open in Campus Center, which will also house a Marriott TownePlace Suites hotel and residential units, JSM said in a press release.
