Gov. Pat Quinn and the University will dedicate the new Electrical and Computer Engineering Building on Friday.

The ceremony will be taking place in the Grainger Auditorium at 1 p.m and is expected to last about an hour. It will be followed by short ceremonies to dedicate two sculptures outside the building.

According to ECE Illinois, the ceremony will be broadcasted online for those that are unable to attend. Building tours will be offered in the afternoon.

The building is located at 306 N. Wright St. in Urbana. According to the release from the Electrical and Computer Engineering department, it is nearly double the size of the previous ECE building, Everitt Laboratory. The project received funding by the State of Illinois and donations from private and corporate contributors.
