Bar checks bring 30 citations

The Illinois State Police has released the results of its Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement covert detail during the late evening hours Friday. 

A total of 30 citations were issued— 28 for minor in possession of alcohol and two for unlawful use of identification. Nine citations were issued at KAM’S, seven at Red Lion, six at Joe’s Brewery, four at Murphy’s Pub, three at It’s Brothers and one during a street sweep.

The purpose of the ACE program is to reduce and deter underage drinking in Illinois and increase police presence in the campus area, according to the press release from the Illinois State Police.

Those who are found in possession of illegal IDs are at risk of having their driver’s license suspended or revoked by the Illinois Secretary of State. According to the press release, suspensions can last up to one year or longer.
