Four arrested in campus armed robbery

As they were headed home from a night at a campus bar, four victims were robbed at gunpoint early Saturday morning near Fifth and Clark streets, according to a Champaign police press release. 

Champaign police responded to the report at 2:19 a.m. and found two cell phones had been stolen by four suspects. The victims said one of the suspects had a gun and one of the unarmed suspect hit one of the victims on the head.

Champaign and University police officers, along with police canine, searched for the suspects who had fled on foot and found them about 10 minutes later near Sixth and White streets. During the search, both a handgun and the cellphones of the victims were recovered.

Jason Duckworth, an 18-year old from Ohio, and three juveniles (two 17-year olds and one 16-year old) was arrested and Duckworth was taken to Champaign County Jail, where he is being held on a $75,000 bond. The juveniles were taken to the Youth Detention Center.
