UIPD working with Rochester Police in missing student case

University student William Hempy was reported missing March 25 after he was last seen at a park near his home in Rochester, MN.
According to a report from the Rochester Police Department, Hempy was last seen before going out for a run, wearing a black jacket, jeans and Asics tennis shoes. Hempy is 6 feet tall and about 160 pounds with short brown hair and hazel eyes.
Patrick Wade, University of Illinois Police Department spokesman, said the department is not actively investigating the case but is trying to help the Rochester Police Department as much as possible.
“Obviously we’re very concerned anytime harm comes to anyone of our students wherever they may be,” Wade said. “But, at this time, we don’t believe this case poses any specific threat to the Urbana-Champaign campus.”
