Steven Saliata announced on Twitter that he was hired as the Edward W. Said Chair of American Studies at American University of Beirut for the 2015-16 academic year.

“I’ve really missed the classroom,” he wrote Wednesday. “I’ll do my very best to honor the legacy of Dr. Said.”

In August 2014, Salaita’s job offer to serve as a professor in the American Indian Studies program at the University was rescinded after he posted a series of controversial tweets about conflict between Israel and Gaza.

Salaita is in undergoing a lawsuit with the University to get his former job pack. The suit is pending in federal court in Chicago.
