University student dead after being struck by train

A 20-year-old University student was pronounced dead Tuesday morning at 5:05 a.m. after being struck by a train in Savoy, according to a statement from the Champaign County Coroner’s Office.
The student was taken to Carle Foundation Hospital Emergency Department after the incident.
An autopsy performed today at the Champaign County Regional Autopsy Facility confirmed the student died from blunt force injuries from the collision.
The incident is currently being investigated by the Champaign County Sheriff’s Department.
Final autopsy results are pending toxicology studies.
