September 16, 2015
A 24-hour vigil for U.S. Prisoners of War and MIA soldiers will be held on campus Friday.
The Arnold Air Society within the Air Force ROTC will host the event in front of the Illini Union on Friday, said Captain Wade Beasley.
The event coincides with National POW/MIA recognition day. The day is dedicated to remembering prisoners of war and others who have been lost in combat.
Beasley, member of the Arnold Air Society, said all branches of the University’s ROTC program will participate in the vigil, which begins at 12 a.m. Friday morning and ends at 12 a.m. Saturday.
Both cadets and midshipmen will be marching with rifles throughout the vigil.
