• Attempted burglary was reported in the 1500 block of Garden Hills Drive around 11:30 a.m. Jan. 24.

According to the report, the suspect damaged the door to the victim’s home in order to gain entry, but did not take anything.

• A University student was issued a state of Illinois notice to appear for retail theft. 

According to the report, the student attempted to leave the Illini Union Bookstore without paying for a textbook worth $147.

• A University student reported his laptop was stolen around noon Tuesday from Grainger Library, 1301 W. Springfield Ave. 

According to the report, the computer was left in an unattended study area and had an estimated value of $1,450.
