Champaign

A 25-year-old female was arrested on the charges of obstructing justice, retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia at Meijer, 2401 N. Prospect Ave., around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday. According to the report, the offender had stolen several clothing and jewelry items from the store and had left in a vehicle. The vehicle was located and the suspect was subsequently arrested.

A bomb threat was reported at Heartland Bank, 1101 W. Windsor Rd., around 10 a.m. Thursday. According to the report, a male subject had called the bank and demanded money. He threatened to blow up the bank if his demands were not met.

A 43-year-old female and a 32-year-old male were arrested on the joint charge of residential burglary, and a 42-year-old male was arrested on the charges of residential burglary, possession of stolen property and forgery in the 1100 block of West Green Street around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. According to the report, the witness observed a residential burglary in progress and then called 911. The suspects fled when police officers arrived on the scene. Two suspects were located and the stolen property, including jewelry, an electronic gaming system and a musical instrument, along with other items, were recovered.

An attempted robbery was reported at Chase Bank, 303 S. Mattis Ave., around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The victim reported that three male suspects had attempted to rob the victim while they were using the ATM.

University

An accident was reported near the corner of Neil Street and Kirby Avenue around 8 p.m. Wednesday. According to the report, a police officer had made an attempt to stop a vehicle after the driver made an illegal turn. It was suspected that the vehicle had been stolen. The vehicle then fled at a high speed and struck a house in the 1000 block of Pine Street. A witness has reported that two occupants ran from the vehicle after the accident. The stolen vehicle has been recovered.

Credit card theft was reported at the University of Illinois Public Safety Building, 1110 W. Springfield Ave., around 11 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 9. According to the report, a University employee had reported that someone had made unauthorized charges, totaling $475.64, on their credit card.

A 20-year-old male was arrested on the charge of theft at the Illini Union Bookstore, 809 S. Wright St., around 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 5. According to the report, the offender, who was a bookstore employee, was observed on Jan. 3 stealing a computer laptop with a retail value of $2,700 on store security cameras.

Urbana

A retail theft was reported at Walmart, 100 S. High Cross Rd., around 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. According to the report, the offender entered the store and selected several items from a shelf. They then took the items to the customer service desk, returned the items and got money back for them.

A 29-year-old male was arrested on the charges of driving under the influence, traffic sign violation, breath alcohol over the legal limit and possession of a controlled substance near the intersection of Washington and Lynn streets around 11 p.m. on Saturday. According to the report, the offender was initially stopped for disobeying a stop sign on a public roadway. The officer reported that the offender had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath and was showing signs of impairment. He was arrested and taken to Champaign County Sheriff’s Office and provided a breath sample and had a Breath Alcohol Concentration of 0.143.

A burglary from a motor vehicle was reported in the 1000 block of Kerr Avenue around 8 p.m. on Saturday. According to the report, the unknown offender had entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and had stolen her billfold containing property such as a purse, currency, drivers license and credit cards.

A case of forgery was reported at Circle K, 1501 N. Lincoln Ave., around 8 a.m. on Saturday. According to the report, a patron unknowingly had a counterfeit $10 bill that they had received from another gas station, and attempted to use it to obtain goods. The store employee recognized the bill to be counterfeit, confiscated the bill and contacted the police. The bill has been recovered and submitted into evidence.
