Puppies were on the Main Quad today giving out kisses for Valentine’s Day for a Gamma Phi Omega International Sorority Inc. kissing booth fundraiser.

Puppy Kissing Booth participants had the option to pay $1 for a kiss with the puppy, or $3 for “Seven Minutes in Heaven.”

The proceeds from the event went to funding the sorority’s “Swan Scholarship,” which is given out to three women who are entering college or are undergraduate or graduate students, with the goal of helping support Latinas pursuing higher education.

Gamma Phi Omega member and junior in LAS Alondra Flores, said that they are aiming to help women are do not have the resources to attend higher education.

“It’s a win-win for everyone,” Flores said. “It’s a stress reliever and it’s to support a great cause.”

Gamma Phi Omega hosted the Puppy Kissing Booth from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., so students had a chance throughout the day to play with the puppies.

“The dog was super fun. It really lifted my spirits up,” said Kimberly Agus, a sophomore in AHS.

Josh Mellody-Pizzato, junior in LAS, also enjoyed the Valentine’s fundraiser.

“It was great. I love dogs, so it was a lot of fun,” said Mellody-Pizzato. “It was a great Valentine’s Day (event).”
