Champaign
Identity theft was reported on the 3000 block of West Daniel Street around 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday. According to the report, the victim reported that an unknown suspect used her personal information to establish a Comcast account at an unknown location in the past couple of years with an outstanding balance.
Motor vehicle theft was reported on the 00 block of East Springfield Avenue around 10 a.m. on Wednesday. According to the report, the victim’s vehicle was stolen from the parking lot of the automotive shop where it was being worked on.
University
A theft was reported at 1201 W. University Ave. in Urbana on Thursday. According to the report, a University-owned trailer with an estimated value of $1,000 had been stolen between May and Aug. 29.
Urbana
Disorderly conduct was reported on the 1600 block of North Lincoln Avenue around 7 p.m. on Wednesday. According to the report, the victim was alarmed and disturbed by the offenders when they pointed a gun into the air and made popping noises. It was later determined that the gun was not real.
A case involving deceptive practices was reported on the 1300 block of North Lincoln Avenue around 1 a.m. on Thursday. According to the report, the unknown offender portrayed himself to be employed by Microsoft in order to gain access to the victim’s computer and have the victim pay for a nonexistent “virus protection plan.”
