Interim dean named for College of Engineering

Tamer Basar was named the interim dean for the College of Engineering on Tuesday, according to a University press release.
Basar, the director of the Center for Advanced Study and a professor of electrical and computer engineering at the University, begins his appointment Jan. 16, 2018. The appointment is pending approval from the University’s Board of Trustees.
Basar is taking over for Andreas Cangellaris. Cangellaris was named vice chancellor for academic affairs and provost earlier this year.
The search for a permanent dean will begin in spring.
