February 8, 2018
The Illinois Student Government passed a resolution on Black History Month and referred four new resolutions to committees at its weekly meeting.
ISG will be co-sponsoring an event with Black Students for Revolution, where members will be writing letters to prisoners. It will also be hosting a lunch discussion and a movie night to discuss topics related to Black History Month.
Hydration Station 2018, a resolution that will allow ISG to set up two stations on the first Friday of March, or Unofficial St. Patrick’s Day, to keep students properly hydrated while binge-drinking, was referred to the campus affairs committee and financial affairs.
Regarding the Champaign-Urbana Mass Transit District buses, Jacob Rajlich, sophomore in Engineering and transportation representative, said during member comment that the 14 Navy bus will be changing routes. The bus will be expanded to an all-day route and will be relocated to First Street.
ISG also referred a resolution on committing to using 100 percent recycled paper for business.

Funding for the spring Illinois Board of Higher Education Student Advisory Committee trip was moved to committee. The resolution will allow the University to have a voice in the IBHE-SAC, a committee dedicated to discussing issues related to higher education institutes.
A student body president and student trustee candidates debate was also sent to committee. This will give students the chance to hear from all candidates about campus issues.
