Pritzker appoints 5 new members to UI Board of Trustees

The University gained five new Board of Trustees members, appointed by Democratic Illinois Governor J.B. Pritzker.

Attorney Kareem Dale, human service agency CEO Ricardo Estrada, and attorney Patricia Brown Holmes, were seated as the new trustee members. Private equity CEO Donald Edwards and former Democratic state representative Naomi Jakobsson, both alumni of the University, were also appointed to the board of trustees.

The terms of the new members varies between full and partial. Edwards, Holmes and Estrada will serve terms until 2025, while Dale and Jakobsson will serve terms until 2023.

Thomas Hardy, executive director of the University of Illinois system, said in an email that students and faculty can expect governance and fiduciary responsibility laser focused on excellence, diversity, accessibility, affordability and accountability from new trustee members.
