A few words from our editor-in-chief
February 18, 2019
This weekend, our editorial staff traveled to Chicago for the Illinois College Press Association conference and award luncheon.
Thirty-one college newspapers throughout Illinois joined together at the awards ceremony to celebrate college journalism. The Daily Illini took home 21 awards, including second place for general excellence.
While these awards are a great honor and a reminder of all the hard work our staff members do, they are also a reminder of why journalism is so important for bettering society. I’m very proud of all the hard work this staff has done over the past year; however, we aren’t stopping here.
We will continue hunting for the stories, both visual and written, that are meant to serve the people. Winning awards is a great honor, but changing society for the better is really why we do what we do.
