Champaign-Urbana will experience a taste of the tropics with the 15th annual C-U in the Prairibbean concert featuring family-friendly music from award-winning tropical-rock band The Boat Drunks, preceded by performances from both The Tons O’ Fun Band and the duo Jake and Jackson.

The concert, hosted by local group DSC, which “supports people in living rich and meaningful lives,” according to their mission statement, partnered with the Eastern Illinois Parrot Head Club, aims to celebrate the 15th anniversary of the beginning of the fundraiser intended to benefit various local and national charities. Through the efforts of these concerts, EIPHC has dispersed over $539,000 to these organizations, including the Mills Breast Cancer Center, Cunningham Children’s Home, the American Heart Association and more.

The event will take place on August 3 in the parking lot of the Orpheum Children’s Science Museum from 5 p.m.-11 p.m. Tickets are $10 and can be purchased in advance at www.dsc-illinois.org or www.eiphc.org. Volunteers are also needed and can sign up on the aforementioned websites.
