Champaign
Domestic battery was reported in the 1100 block of North Northwood Drive around 11 p.m. Monday. According to the report, officers initially responded to a recent robbery and, upon arrival at the scene, found a highly intoxicated man who claimed to have been involved in a physical encounter with his girlfriend.
Aggravated discharge of a firearm was reported in the 300 block of Foxwell Court around 6 p.m. Sunday. According to the report, the victim found a bullet had passed through several walls of her house at an unknown time.
Theft was reported at Macy’s, 2000 N. Neil St. around 6 p.m. Sunday. According to the report, the victim removed her wedding ring and left for a few minutes to try on a dress in a fitting room. When she returned, the ring was gone.

Disorderly conduct and committing a hate crime was reported at Allen Hall, 1005 W. Gregory Dr., around 1 a.m. Sunday. According to the report, residence hall staff found a noose hanging inside an elevator in a public space. After an investigation, the offender was arrested at his home in the 1000 block of College Court around 9:30 p.m. Monday. Read more with the story below.
Theft was reported at Mechanical Engineering Laboratory, 105 S. Mathews Ave., between 11:30 and 1 p.m. Monday. According to the report, the student’s laptop, backpack and wallet that had been left unattended and unsecured in a shared office were stolen.
Driving under the influence of alcohol was reported in the 800 block of West Nevada Street around 1 a.m. Friday. According to the report, the officer found the offender to be under the influence of alcohol after initially stopping him for driving at night without headlights.
Urbana
Trespassing was reported in the 900 block of North Broadway Avenue, around 7 a.m. Monday. According to the report, the offender was living in a vacant apartment and was present in the apartment at the time of arrest. The suspect was then transported to the Champaign County Jail and left in the correction officers’ custody.
Theft was reported in the 1600 block of East Florida Avenue around 8 p.m. Sunday. According to the report, an unknown offender detached and stole both license plates from the victim’s vehicle.
Theft was reported at Save-A-Lot, 220 N. Broadway Ave., around 5 p.m. Sunday. According to the report, an unknown offender brought an item to the store to return and became upset when told the store would not return it. The offender then replaced the item without the store’s permission and exited the store with the new item.
