Theft was reported at Meijer, 2401 N. Prospect Ave., around 11 a.m. Wednesday. According to the report, the victim had her purse stolen out of her shopping cart while she was loading groceries into her car. The unknown offender then spent over $1,000 at a different grocery store immediately after.
Criminal damage to property was reported at University Group Apartments, 309 S. First St., around 8 a.m. Friday. According to the report, an offender was seen on camera knocking over a Pepsi vending machine.
University
Theft was reported at the University Golf Course, 800 Hartwell Drive in Savoy, around 6 p.m. Sunday. According to the report, a golf cart was stolen.
Fraud was reported Sept. 9. According to the report, a University student was involved in a scam regarding his social security number. The caller claimed to be the Urbana Police Department and told the student to purchase gift cards in exchange to have an arrest warrant lifted.

Identity theft was reported in the 1500 block of South Smith Road, around 9 p.m. Friday. According to the report, several credit card accounts were opened using the victim’s identification by an unknown offender.

Theft was reported in the 1900 block of Philo Road, around 8 p.m. Sunday. According to the report, the victim had a bag with goods stolen while he was walking home. The victim had just purchased the items.
Forgery was reported in the 200 block of West University Avenue, around 10 a.m. Monday. According to the report, an unknown offender used a forged $20 bill at a business. It was not found that the bill was counterfeit until it was deposited into a bank.
