Originally scheduled to come back to teach starting Jan. 1, Law professor Jay Kesan will instead go on “University-sanctioned leave.”

Kesan was accused of sexual misconduct in 2017 and students called for his resignation in 2018. Kesan then took a year-long unpaid leave in 2019. According to WILL Illinois, Kesan wrote a letter admitting to the behavior and he apologized.

However, after the voluntary leave in 2019, Kesan was to teach two courses starting again in 2020. According to an email sent to the College of Law faculty and students toward the end of December, though Kesan will instead be going on leave and not teaching during this time.
