A student reported on Thursday that he had fallen victim to an online scam. According to the report, the student was contacted on Feb. 23 via messaging app by a person claiming to be an employee of a package delivery service and stating the student was being investigated for money laundering. The scammer told the student to send $20,121 to an unknown person to close the investigation, and the student complied.

Credit card fraud was reported on the 400 block of East Florida Avenue around 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. According to the report, the unknown offender deceived the victim in obtaining their credit card information. The offender then used the victim’s bank account for fraudulent transactions.
