Deceptive practices were reported on the 1600 block of East Florida Avenue around 4 p.m. on Wednesday. According to the report, the victim received a fake cashier’s check from the offender to secure an apartment. The check was made out for more money than the victim asked for, so the victim wired the offender the difference.

Credit card fraud was reported on the 100 block of South Busey Avenue around 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. According to the report, the unknown offender used the victim’s credit card to make an unauthorized purchase of $803.80. The credit card account has been closed.
