Zorbas, a Mediterranean restaurant located on Green Street, closed permanently on Tuesday.

Zorba’s, one of campustown’s enduring restaurants, has closed its doors for good, former owner Matt Mortenson said Tuesday.

Founded in 1973, Zorba’s served Mediterranean fare to campus customers for over 45 years.

Mortenson worked there for 35 years, and owned the restaurant from 1992 to 2017. He spent Monday cleaning up the restaurant, located at 627 E. Green St.

Zorba’s was the second-oldest restaurant on campus, behind only Murphy’s Pub, founded in 1969.
