Deceptive practices were reported at the University on Sunday. According to the report, a student attempted to purchase a cat through an online seller using an electronic payment app. The student initially paid the seller $650, and an additional $895 at the request of the seller. After the seller demanded a third payment, the student realized the transaction was a spam. 

Urbana

Theft over $500 was reported on the 2500 block of South Philo Road around 3:10 p.m. on Thursday. According to the report, the unknown offender left the Meijer grocery store without paying for their items. 

Criminal damage to property was reported on the 1900 block of Weaver Street around 2:14 p.m. on Thursday. According to the report, the unknown offender broke the victim’s vehicle window.
