UI charity drive raises $1.3 million
March 26, 2021
The Campus Charitable Fund Drive raised $1,369,832 in donations last year from University employees. The eight-week drive, held annually by the University, aims to raise money from University faculty, staff and retirees to donate to charity.
University employees from different departments volunteer for the drive, serving as “unit leaders” who rally and encourage the coworkers in their academic unit to contribute.
“Unit leaders across campus encouraged their colleagues to contribute to any of the almost 700 charities serving causes in our community and around the globe,” said Chancellor Jones in a Massmail.
The drive collects donations on behalf of 11 “umbrella agencies” which host different programs that donors can contribute.
“We are proud to know our university has helped fund causes benefitting our environment, health, human rights and so much more,” Jones said.
